In October 2023, a group of nine motorcycles departed from Algeciras for an unforgettable adventure riding through Morocco on two wheels. After crossing the Strait of Gibraltar by ferry to Tangier, we embarked on a journey full of contrasts, exploring everything from vibrant cities to desert landscapes, mountain roads, and ancient caravan routes.
Our route began in northern Morocco, crossing the Rif Mountains with its winding curves and spectacular views. We made a stop in the charming Chefchaouen, the famous blue city, before continuing our journey south, passing through Meknes and the stunning cedar forests of Azrou, where we had the chance to see wild macaques.
From there, the journey took us across the High Atlas through the challenging Tizi n’Tichka pass, with its breathtaking panoramas. Stops in Berber villages allowed us to experience the local culture and enjoy Moroccan hospitality. Gradually, the landscape changed until we reached the Merzouga desert, where we swapped the motorcycles for camels to witness a spectacular sunset over the dunes.
Following the Draa Valley, we traveled through ancient kasbahs and palm groves before heading towards the Atlantic coast. The road took us through Essaouira, a city with a bohemian charm and streets full of history, before beginning the journey back north. The final leg of our journey brought us back to Tangier, where we boarded the ferry once again heading to Spain, thus concluding a trip full of unforgettable moments.
This motorcycle journey through Morocco gifted us with dreamlike landscapes, perfect roads to enjoy the ride, and the warmth of its people. More than just a trip, it was an experience that will stay etched in our memories and one we will undoubtedly repeat in the future.
